Matt Dinniman over at Fireflies in the Cloud is holding a Flash fiction contest for Halloween.
The rules are simple; must be 99 words exactly and have a Halloween/horror theme.

Here is my entry;
Moving Day
“Mom, do old houses like this have ghosts?” Jane asked.
“Of course not, dear.”
“What about demons?”
“No. Ghosts and demons don’t really exist, sweetie.”
“You’re sure, Mommy?”
“Positive.”
“Okay. Can I go back into my new room?”
“Of course. We’ll be right here.”
Jane walked back into her room and faced the spirits, “I’m sorry, but you all have to leave. Mom says you don’t exist.”
“We’ll see if is she still believes that in a month. Do you like screaming, little girl?”
The ghosts laughed.
“We all died in this room,” the tall one said.
Jane shuddered.
